ICT in the classroom

ICT Reflection

ICT integration into teaching and learning provides students different opportunities to make learning more effective, fun and enjoyable. It can encourage a more active participation in the learning process. In this 21st century, ICT is seen as tools to enable and support teachers in creating more “learner centered” learning environment. It is found to be creative and motivated for teachers and students.

During this COVID-19 Pandemic we cannot teach through the real classroom. But we can use different apps like WeChat, WhatsApp’s, Telegram, google classroom and Gmail to teach the students. Most of the time I use WeChat apps to deliver the lesson to   the students. I taught English lesson for grade I students on the topic fruits. To arouse the student’s interest I explained the lesson through short video clip.

Students watched the video clip and they were actively engaged in the activity. The lesson went effectively that all the students were able to complete the activity on time. Their work was corrected and send back through the WeChat.   The follow-up activity was given to name the fruits through voice message. All the students were able to name the fruits correctly. They were able to respond correctly through the voice messages.

Some of the challenges that I faced while teaching through WeChat are that there is network problem in my place. Some of the parents have smart phone. When I teach the lesson those parents give quick response through WeChat and support their children. Other challenge is that most of the parents don’t have smart phone that’s why effective teaching and learning is not taking place. I am helpless to those students who don’t have smart phone. I couldn’t deliver lesson to them.
